The town of Mount Pleasant has hired Richard Chinnis to coordinate compliance with the federal Clean Water Act of 1972. Prior to his employment with the town, Chinnis was a planner and park manager with the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission.

Mark Ruppel has accepted the position of Charleston Fire Department public information officer. Previously, Ruppel was the catastrophic planner for Charleston County in the emergency preparedness department.

 

David Pooser, a 20-year insurance industry veteran, has launched Insurance Consultants.

John A. Cordray IV has joined The Jerry Bacon Allstate Insurance Agency on Ashley Phosphate Road in North Charleston. Cordray is licensed for sales in property and casualty and marine lines insurance.

 

Stacey Williamson has been promoted to staffing supervisor for MAU Inc.’s office services division. Williamson oversees staffing and recruiting services in MAU’s Charleston office.

 

Kim Bivens has joined Dunhill Staffing Systems of Charleston as manager of its temporary staffing division. Bivens has several years of experience in the executive search and interim executive staffing business.

 

The Art Institute of Charleston has hired Amanda Jackson as registrar, Matt Hamilton as assistant director of admissions and Tammy Scott as receptionist.

 

Trident Technical College has hired John Autrey as director of apprenticeship programs. Autrey works with local industries to establish federally registered apprenticeship programs, which combine on-the-job training with classroom instruction.

 

Melissa R. Whetzel has joined the College of Charleston’s division of marketing and communications as the news manager. Previously she was director of investor and community relations for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance and a television reporter for ABC News 4 in Charleston. Joe Hull has accepted the position of director of athletics at the college. Formerly, Hull was a senior associate athletics director at the University of Maryland.

 

Fish restaurant has hired pastry chef Susie Ieronemo, who brings to the position a significant amount of experience, in creating sweets.

 

Tristan has promoted Aaron Deal to executive chef. Deal served as Tristan’s chef de cuisine for more than two years and was executive sous chef at the Harbor Club in Charleston prior to joining the team at Tristan.

 

Social Wine Restaurant + Bar downtown has hired Mark Kaufman as executive chef. Kaufman has worked in several well-known kitchens around the country.

 

D.J. Barnhill has joined Classic Remodeling & Construction Inc. as a financial administrator. Barnhill spent seven years in public accounting before moving into private industry.

 

Summerville Medical Center has promoted Lynn Haney-Singleton to chief nursing officer. Singleton was the hospital’s associate chief nursing officer.

 

Trident Medical Center has promoted April Reeder to vice president of operations. Reeder had been assistant vice president of operations. 

 

Moncks Corner Medical Center has named Sandra Dennis as manager of emergency services. Dennis had previously served as an emergency room nurse.

 

Prudential Carolina Real Estate has hired Michelle Melton for its Orleans Road office; Kem Baker for the Clements Ferry Road office; Nancy Youngblood Jordan for the Folly Road office; and Amy Black and Shelton Tate for the Coleman Boulevard office.

Previously, Miller was a reporter with the Bloomington, Ill., Pantagraph, Owens worked as an assistant managing editor for The Post and Courier of Charleston, and Wilcox was an art director for Charleston-based Atlantic Publication Group LLC.
