Miriam Wilson has joined the South Carolina Research Authority as SC Launch! partner program manager.

Denise Sanger has joined the S.C. Sea Grant Consortium as assistant director for research and planning. Sanger has experience in coastal zone management and eco-toxicology with an emphasis in estuarine benthic ecology, sediment chemistry, design and analysis of ecological risk assessment data and status and monitoring of environmental water quality data. 

Verizon Wireless promoted Lynn Isaacs to major account manager of strategic accounts for coastal South Carolina.

Piggly Wiggly Carolina Co. announced David Schools, who currently serves as the company’s senior vice president, will become president and CEO. Current President and CEO Joseph T. “Buzzy” Newton III will become chairman.

Jim Gillespie has been hired as branch manager at Glasspro in Mount Pleasant. Gillespie will supervise employees and oversee all daily operations, including customer service.

Melanie Figueiredo joined Nova Gas Technologies as global development manager. Previously, she was employed at the South Carolina World Trade Center as the director for international business development.

Brad Luke joined Science Applications International Corp. as a project control analyst. Luke also serves as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve as a finance officer.

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. named Mike Wilkinson district sales representative for its 16-door service center located near the Wando River and named Megan E. Shelley as a district sales representative for its 38-door service center located near Wando. Prior to joining Old Dominion, Wilkinson held a non-industry position as a director of operations. Shelley was previously an account representative.

Wild Dunes Resort announced the appointment of Alex Gregory as director of sales and marketing. Gregory has more than 12 years sales experience in the hospitality industry.

Ann M. Pfeiffer, a representative of Medicare’s Region IV Office in Atlanta, has joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough to assist health care clients with Medicare compliance matters.

Maggie Diebolt has been hired to assist Tim Gehret with media inquiries and press notifications at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Sherri Beasley has joined Palmetto Behavioral Health System as director of business development and Chris Darnell has joined Palmetto Behavioral Health Solutions as the executive director of practice management.

The Medical University of South Carolina Office of Academic Affairs appointed Stephen M. Lanier as associate provost for research.

The Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau promoted Katie Chapman to assistant director of the media relations department. Chapman’s new duties include a larger role in management and long-term planning for the department and ensuring department efforts are aligned more closely with marketing and sales department initiatives.

Jill Morgan joined Gateway Hospitality’s new Hawthorne Suites hotel in West Ashley as director of sales.

Carrie C. Armentrout has joined JMC Charleston as an intern. JMC Charleston is a full-service event planning and destination management company located in Charleston.

Three associates have joined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in the firm’s Charleston office: Eli A. Poliakoff practices in the areas of business litigation, securities litigation and health care; Erin E. Richardson practices appellate, insurance, product liability and technology law; Janene Boyce Smith practices in the areas of litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation and product liability.

Young Clement Rivers LLP appointed attorney Joseph J. Tierney Jr. as a partner in its Broad Street office. The company also announced the addition of three new associates in its Charleston office: M. Elizabeth Baggett, Randy Jeryl Bates II and Joseph H. Farrell III.

Ernest Lipscomb joined Barnwell Whaley Patterson & Helms as counsel in the intellectual property division of the firm.

The attorneys of Buist Moore Smythe McGee PA announced three new associates: John C. Hawk IV, Ryan D. Gilsenan and William T. Dawson III.

R. Randall Bridwell has become counsel to The Tecklenburg Law Firm LLC. Bridwell is a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute and is an advisor to the Charleston School of Law’s Maritime Law Institute.
