The Trident Workforce Investment Board has retained IMPACT! Inc., a public relations company located in Summerville, to coordinate and orchestrate marketing and public relations strategies for the Trident One-Stop Career System.

Charleston County RoadWise, a program for the management of transportation and drainage improvements funded by the county’s transportation tax, has kicked off its professional internship program with two local college students for the spring 2006 semester, Maurice Heriot, a junior at Charleston Southern University, and Matthew Gochnauer, a senior at The Citadel.

Ron Jones of the Charleston law firm Clawson & Staubes LLC has been selected as a participant in the inaugural Lowcountry Diversity Leadership Academy. The academy is a community-based leadership development program that provides diversity, management and leadership skills to Lowcountry business, civic and community leaders.

Neil C. Robinson Jr., a member in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, has been named to Who’s Who Legal: USA—Real Estate 2006. Robinson is one of three attorneys in South Carolina to be included in the guide. Who’s Who Legal identifies private practice lawyers with extensive experience in advising clients on all aspects of buying, selling, leasing, developing and managing real estate.

The following alumni awards were awarded by the College of Charleston Alumni Association: Alumni Award of Honor, Charles Latimer; Distinguished Alumna, Jean Rouse Spell; Distinguished Alumnus, Keith Sauls; Alumnus of the Year, John C. Lovell III; and Young Alumna of the Year, Chesley Stetten.

Mike Terry of The AgentOwned Realty Preferred Group has successfully completed the Realtor e-PRO course. The Realtor e-PRO certification course is an educational program presented online that certifies real estate agents and brokers as Internet professionals. The course is designed to help real estate agents stay at the leading edge of technology and identify, evaluate and implement new Internet business models.

Kellye Hafner, research director of Specialty Chemicals’ Technical Center in North Charleston, was recently inducted into the Council of Outstanding Young Alumni at the Georgia Institute of Technology’s College of Engineering. Hafner was chosen based on her accomplishments with MeadWestvaco, where she began her career in 1996 as a research chemical engineer.

Matt Randall and Neil Desai of Seamon, Whiteside & Associates Inc. successfully passed the Professional Engineer’s exam. Randall has been working with SWA as a project coordinator in the area of residential development for the past 3 ½ years. Desai has been a project coordinator with SWA since 2004.

Joanne Tyler Harwell, a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker Coastal Properties in Charleston, was recently awarded the Accredited Luxury Home Specialist Designation from The Luxury Home Council. Each specialist must successfully complete the Accredited Luxury Home Specialist course, represent a buyer or seller in at least two transactions where the purchase price is at least twice the average sales price, and the agent must be in good standing with the National Association of Realtors.

Southern Living magazine has selected Margaret Donaldson Interiors as the exclusive interior design firm for the 2006 Southern Living Idea House at Daniel Island. MDI will be responsible for the complete interior design of the four-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath house, which is currently under construction. The Southern Living Idea House will open for tours in June, with a majority of the proceeds to benefit a local charity. Southern Living magazine will feature the house, which is one of three 2006 Southern Living Idea Houses, in its August issue.

The Comdyn Group, a custom software development company, has achieved the Microsoft competency for custom development solutions. The firm was recognized by Microsoft for its work with .NET technologies.
