Architect Glenn Keyes of Glenn Keyes Architects has been selected by This Old House magazine as one of its Best Building Pros in America in its October 2005 issue. Keyes was chosen as one of the magazines top 10 preservation architects, following an extensive selection process.
Dunhill Staffing Systems of Charleston announced that it was ranked the franchise systems No. 1 volume permanent placement office in the country in 2005. Dunhill Staffing Systems, headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., operates a national network of company and franchised staffing and recruiting offices. Katie Whitman, vice president of Dunhill in Charleston, was ranked as the top recruiter in the system for 2005. She was also the nations top recruiter in 2004.
The Institute for Defense and Government Advancement announced the winners of the 2006 Network Centric Warfare Awards. The Test and Validation Laboratory at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston was awarded second place for the best contribution to the development of Network Centric Warfare theory. The primary tenet of Network Centric Warfare theory is the full integration of computer technology and the resulting capability to share near-to real-time information.
Tracy Gillette, a professional recruiter for MAU Inc., has passed the Certified Internet Recruiter exam administered by AIRS. AIRS is considered to be one of the world leaders in recruiter training and assessment programs, and the certification provides that the recruiting professional demonstrated a mastery of Internet sourcing.
Seven area volunteers and businesses were presented with the Clarence G. Westedorff Jr. Award for excellence in community service by the United Methodist Relief Center. The recipients were Joe Turner of Turner Heating, Air & Refrigeration; the Rev. Fred Garnett, pastor of Grace Reformed Episcopal Church; Coleman Glaze, Glaze Financial Services; the Rev. Daniel Simmons; Pat Ilderton, Ilderton Contractors; the REALTORS Housing Opportunity Fund; and the Daniel Island Community Fund.
Tom Sweeny, a financial services professional with MassMutual Life Insurance Co., recently earned the Certified Family Business Specialist designation. The designation was jointly developed by The American College faculty and the MassMutual Life Insurance Co. It is an academic achievement signaling completion of a series of exams covering business and financial information for family businesses.
The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors presented Bobbie P. Sims with the 2005 Realtor of the Year award during its annual holiday gala. The award recognizes Sims local, state and national contributions to the community, real estate industry and association. Sims works with Old Dominion Realtors in Mount Pleasant and has been a licensed broker for more than 25 years.
Bill Jacques, representing American Inspection Service Inc., a local home inspection business, recently returned from InspectionWorld 2006, the premier annual conference and exhibition for the home inspection industry. More than 1,200 professionals were in attendance at this years event in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. InspectionWorld is presented annually by the American Society of Home Inspectors, the oldest nonprofit professional organization of home inspectors in North America.

Real estate agents with this designation are specifically trained about the features mature consumers, those between the ages of 50 and 70, are most interested in when purchasing a home, including single-level floor plans and heightened security measures.
