The Charleston chapter of the American Marketing Association named 10 new board members: Martine Friedman, president; Marla Loftus, secretary; Holly McLeod, treasurer; Jonna Palmer, vice president for communications; Lee Deas, vice president for online communications; Elizabeth McDowell, vice president for public relations; Burt Potter, vice president for membership; Ginny Carson, vice president for promotions; Melissa Whetzel, vice president for events; and Carey Haynes, membership committee.
Michael Leibowitz, owner of Professional Answering Service, was named president-elect of the Canadian Association of Messaging Exchanges. Leibowitz is the first non-Canadian to be elected to the board of CAM-X. He will also serve as conference chair for the upcoming CAM-X annual meeting and is on the board of directors of the American Teleservices International, a trade association representing telephone answering services throughout the United States.

The board of the International African American Museum in Charleston named Gretta Middleton part-time director. Middleton is a management consultant and former Charleston Southern University professor who has worked with the United States Agency for International Development in Africa.
Argolyn Bioscience Inc. appointed Dr. Seth Finklestein as interim chief medical officer and Eyal Ron as interim director of drug development to its advisory team.
Sherry Edgin of Charleston Collection Services Inc. was one of four members of the South Carolina Collectors Association appointed to positions of leadership in the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals International for 2006-07.

Professional Answering Service was awarded the Association of TeleServices International Award of Excellence for the second consecutive year at the associations annual conference in Portland, Maine. Organizations are judged on courtesy, response time, accuracy and overall service to their clients.
Anthony Carmola of Coast Architects Inc. passed his architectural examinations and is now a registered architect with the state of South Carolina. His position as a registered architect enhances his role as a project manager and designer in the firm.
Gulf Streams Kevin Williamson earned the Superintendent of the Year for 2006 award from the American Subcontractors Associations Charleston chapter.
Mount Pleasant Waterworks was awarded the 2006 certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The honor is given annually to governmental agencies after careful review of the agencys Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. The CAFR is judged by an impartial panel against the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report. Trident Technical College area commissioner Carolyn Law Price received the trustee leadership award for the southern region from the Association of Community College Trustees. The ACCT is a nonprofit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the United States, Canada and England.

Dale Carnegie and Associates Inc. recognized Debbie Cooler, Rick Rickenbaker and Jim Geffert as being in the top 50 Dale Carnegie trainers in the world. The rankings were determined by the degree to which the trainers exceeded expectations of their clients.
Edward McKelvey, vice president of Community Reinvestment Act and community development at First Federal, was named the South Carolina Bankers Association outstanding young banker for 2006.
