YOUNG AT HEART VOLUNTEER WITH DORCHESTER HABITAT

The Faithful Few, a group of volunteers ranging in age from 61 to 81, were recently recognized for their dedication to Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. The group is vital to the organization for the expertise it brings to the construction site and its devotion to Habitat’s cause. MOUNT HOLLY TEACHER TAPPED FOR NATIONAL ECOLOGY PROGRAM

Kelly Bearden, a teacher at Mount Holly’s College Park Middle School, was one of 16 teachers nationwide selected to participate in the Keystone Environmental Program. Bearden recently spent a week in Colorado studying conservation and sustainability, and preparing to bring those lessons back to her classrooms. WCBD’S FOWLER AWARDED ORDER OF THE PALMETTO

Rob Fowler, chief meteorologist for WCBD-TV’s News 2, was honored with the Order of the Palmetto for his work with Toys for Tots. The Order of the Palmetto is the highest civilian honor awarded by the Governor’s Office of South Carolina. DEAN-KIRBY GETS NOD FROM WEICHERT FOUNDER

Jim Weichert (left), founder and president of Weichert, Realtors, recognized Bryan Crabtree, president and CEO of three Charleston-area Weichert franchises, at a recent gathering of the organization’s “Founders Club” affiliates. Weichert congratulated Crabtree for his company’s consistent annual increase in production since opening in September 2003.
