Dr. Dawn E. Clancy, a Charleston internal medicine physician, has been elected governor of the South Carolina Chapter of the American College of Physicians, the world’s largest medical specialty society. Clancy is the first woman to be elected as ACP governor of South Carolina.

Dr. G. Donald Frey, a medical physicist and a professor of radiology at the Medical University of South Carolina, has been elected as a trustee of the American Board of Radiology, the board that certifies diagnostic radiologists, medical physicists and radiation oncologists.

Dr. Jerry R. Powell was elected during the South Carolina Medical Association’s 158th annual meeting to serve as the organizations 145th president.

Robert C. Crawford III, director of business development for Citadel Enterprises Inc. in Mount Pleasant, has been elected chairman of the Remodelors Council. The council is a division of the National Association of Home Builders and represents the interests of more than 14,000 remodeling industry members.

The Charleston Citywide Local Development Corp. elected the following directors: Arnold Collins, Kenneth R. Davenport, Renee Gaters, Randall Goldman, Linda H. Kennedy, Baird A. Mallory, Elizabeth Bartlett, Joseph P. Riley Jr., Louis Waring, Richard K. Yonce, Dorothy G. Harrison and S. Yvonne Fortenberry. The officers elected by the directors are: Kennedy, president; Collins, vice president; Davenport, secretary; Gaters, treasurer; and Fortenberry, assistant secretary.

First National Bank of the South announced the formation of an advisory board for the Charleston market area: W.E. Applegate III, J. Ron Brinson, Richard H. Coen, James B. Connelly, Thomas P. Cothran, James B. Edwards, Marvin Jenkins, James G. Kennedy, Robert B. Lawson, Maj. Gen. James E. Livingston, retired; Amy S. Pearson and Charles C. Shaw Jr.
