Sea Island Grill Chef Enzo Steffenellis Apple Wood Smoked Local Shrimp with Wadmalaw Field Salad, Fresh Wild Mushrooms and a Thyme Roasted Garlic Vinaigrette was voted the favorite recipe during an event marking Charlestons Sustainable Seafood Education Projects two-year anniversary. The shrimp cook-off featured local chefs and was part of the Sustainable Seafood Festival: Shrimp Fest, sponsored by the South Carolina Aquarium and the South Carolina Seafood Alliance.
Donna Klim, owner of Candy Bouquet in Summerville, was awarded the Kathy Engelke Mentor Award during the annual Candy Bouquet International Inc. event in Little Rock, Ark. Winners were nominated by other franchise owners, in part for their willingness to help fellow franchise owners.

Also, Lemon was awarded a third place prize for her second radio spot Focusing on Crossing the Ts and Dotting the Is running on WTMA-AM.

The Charleston County Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad recognized several members during its annual awards banquet. William Thompson, a member of the squad for five years, received the G.J. Meitzler Rescue Member of the Year Award. The Rescue Rookie of the Year Award was presented to Dan Poe. Kenny Mercer, a MeadWestvaco employee and member of the squad for 20 years, received the Meritorious Service Award.

Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, an expert on childrens products, named KikaFlik as one of the top 10 active products for 2004 and one of the 100 best childrens products. In addition, Amazon.com also is now selling KikaFlik online.
Bishop Gadsden named Elouise Moorer its Employee of the Year for 2004. She has been an employee of the retirement living community for 17 years and works as a cook at Myers Hall.
The City of Charlestons Clean City Commission received the Presidents Circle Award at the Keep America Beautiful National Conference in Washington, D.C. The city received the award for upholding standards of excellence put in place by the national nonprofit organization.
