Appointments
Three Nexsen Pruet attorneys were appointed to leadership positions in the employment and labor law sections of the North and South Carolina Bar associations. William H. Floyd III is the new chair of the South Carolina Bars employment and labor law section. Regina Hollins Lewis has become the sections CLE leader. Brian S. Clarke is now the Pro Bono chair for the North Carolina Bars section. Their new positions will be effective beginning 2006.
G. Mark Phillips of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough was recently elected president of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association at the SCDTAAs annual meeting. The SCDTAA is an association for defense attorneys whose purpose is to promote justice, professionalism and integrity in the civil justice system by bringing together attorneys dedicated to the defense of civil actions. Its counterpart in the civil bar is the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association.
Argolyn Bioscience Inc. announced that Dr. C. Thomas Caskey has been elected to its board of directors. Caskey brings experience in both the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. His research career includes serving as the senior vice president for research at Merck Research Laboratories and president of the Merck Genome Research Institute.
Robert H. Nuttall Jr. of Anchor Commercial has been named president of the Carolinas Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors for 2006. The chapter includes both North and South Carolina.
Stacey Edge and Heidi Stepzinski were recently appointed as executive co-directors of Girls on the Run of Charleston. Both Edge and Stepzinski are employed as accountants by Pratt-Thomas & Gumb CPAs. The mission of the Girls on the Run program is to educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
