Volunteers help finish home with Charleston Habitat for Humanity.
Eleven volunteers from B. P. Barber & Associates Inc.s Charleston regional office recently supported the Charleston Habitat for Humanity by working alongside the homes recipients, trimming trees throughout the yard, forming a driveway and sidewalk up to the house, and painting the interior.
Dorchester Habitat benefits from golf tournament, auctions.
More than 250 people gathered at Legend Oaks recently for a golf tournament, live and silent auction, and Lowcountry cuisine to benefit Habitat for Humanity. The event raised more than $29,000 for Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. The event was catered by Carolina Café and Casual Catering, and live music was provided by Rick Gold of Black Tie Entertainment. Corporate sponsors included Pickett Inc., Lauree Bradway and Associates, Patterson Printing, Jeff Bowers of Re/Max Professional Realty, Showa Denko Carbon Inc., Carolina Café and Casual Catering, Azalea Sertoma Club, Knight Law Firm, The Behling Co. Credit union donates to Katrina Relief Fund.
S.C. Federal Credit Union donated $13,592 raised from the local community to the American Red Cross Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. The credit union also made a corporation donation of $6,000 to help credit unions continue to operate in the areas affected by the hurricane.
Hard Hat Ball raises money for East Cooper Habitat.
East Cooper Habitat for Humanitys 15th Anniversary Hard Hat Ball was held recently at Blackbaud. The event raised approximately $120,000. Pictured are Mary Ann and David Barnard; David is the executive director of East Cooper Habitat for Humanity.
Knologys golf tournament raises funds for childrens hospital.

CTAR partners with Sea Island Habitat.
The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors has partnered with Sea Island Habitat for Humanity to build homes for local families that would otherwise not qualify for a conventional mortgage.
Engineer installs water treatment system in Guatemala.
Water Missions International engineer George Greene IV traveled to Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, to install a Living Water Treatment System and evaluate local water resources. Santiago Atitlan has become a temporary home for at least 3,000 people from villages destroyed by flooding and mudslides in the wake of Hurricane Stan.
Local churches volunteer for Building on Faith with Dorechester Habitat.
Fifty volunteers from eight churches participated in Building on Faith with Dorchester Habitat for Humanity. They included Dorchester Presbyterian, St. Theresas Catholic, Summerbrook Community Church, Bethany United Methodist, St. Pauls Episcopal, Crossroads Community Church, Unitarian Church, St. Johns the Beloved Catholic and Old Fort Baptist.
Relief center receives grant to refurbish elderly transportable cottages.
United Methodist Relief Center has received a $10,000 grant from The Coastal Community Foundation to fund activities related to maintenance and refurbishment of 20 elderly transportable cottages located in the tri-county area. The grant will be used to support maintenance costs related to ET units, including the replacement of major appliances, furniture, flooring, heating/cooling window units, pest management, cleaning/sanitizing/exterminating, minor repairs, painting and property/liability insurance.
Students give to local Helping Hands.
Helping Hands of Goose Creek recently received a check for $838.28 from the students at Westview Elementary School in Goose Creek to help provide relief for Hurricane Katrina evacuees in the area.
