THE MUHLER CO. ACCEPTS AWARD:

At the 232nd Annual Meeting and Gala celebrating the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce on June 24, Wilbur Johnson, the Immediate Past Chairman, presented the Small Business of the Year award to Henry Hay III, owner of The Muhler Co. The Muhler Co. focuses on producing high-end residential offerings and services, including residential windows and custom high-end mahogany windows along with commercial window lines. Also during the event, Mary Thornley, president of Trident Technical College, accepted the Joseph P. Riley Leadership Award.

CENTER FOR HEIRS' PROPERTY PRESERVATION OPENS:

At a reception at The Avery Research Center at the College of Charleston on June 27, the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation officially announced its opening as a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving heirs’ property and history while promoting equitable growth throughout the Lowcountry. Staff at the Center includes Willie B. Heyward, Esq., managing attorney, Jennie L. Stephens, interim executive director and Kimberly D. Lee, paralegal. Pictured from left: Madeleine McGee, president of Coastal Community Foundation, which began the Heirs’ Property Preservation Initiative with funding from the Ford Foundation, is joined by John Maybank, CCF board chair, Eddie Carson and Fred Lincoln, who have championed the heirs’ property issue for years in the Cainhoy area, and Mike Robinson, a board member of the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation and president of the Charleston Appraisal Service.

HOME BUILDER WINS 17 PRISM AWARDS: Home builder John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods accepted 17 Prism Awards on May 19 at the annual Prism Awards Ceremony hosted by the Charleston Trident Homebuilder’s Association. The builder won in several categories, including Best Product for seven different floorplans, Best Company Brochure, Best Brochure for a Community, Best Web site Design, Best in Sales Space, Best Product Community Presentation and Best Community Amenities. Wieland Neighborhood Sales Managers Mark Szlosek, Brad Troutman, Deborah Dochniak and Bill Orange received top awards for the Multi-Million Dollar Circle.
