A screenwriter and novelist, Ridley has experience in broadcast, production and sales, working for Trident Technical College and The WH Platts Co. Kevin Smith also joined the consulting team. NEW BUSINESS

StrategicPartner, a sales force development company, opened an office in Mount Pleasant. The company provides business professionals with consulting and training in client development and retention. Sonya Giffin was hired as vice president for the new location. She previously worked in a variety of industries, including software, pharmaceutical, telecommunications and consulting.

The Principal Financial Group opened an office in Charleston, providing financial planning and retirement products and services. K. Mace Brown will oversee the office. Brown has more than 25 years experience in the insurance/financial services industry.

Terranova Forest Products merged with Masisa, a Latin American board manufacturer. Under the name Masisa USA, the company launched a manufacturing operation in Charleston.

Joanne L. Brockway joined the Keller Williams Realty Charleston Market Center. Brockway was a freelance marketing consultant and former creative services manager at the Medical University of South Carolina.

Steve Ashburn joined the Mount Pleasant office of AgentOwned Realty. Ashburn has worked in the homebuilding industry for more than 20 years, designing houses, supervising construction and running his own homebuilding company.

Prudential Carolina Real Estate hired several new agents. Cynthia Setnicka will work in the Ashley River Road office. Bruce McGowan and Brittney Thrasher will work in the Clements Ferry Road office. Lou Navarre and William Ray Jr. will work in the Mount Pleasant North office. Judy Tatum and George Read will work in the Broad Street location. Tammy Tanner Driggers and Raymond Platt will work in the Metro North office in Goose Creek. Mark Townes will work in the Coleman Boulevard office. Betsy Bimbi will work in the Trolley Road office in Summerville.

Clay Montgomery joined Poston & Co . Inc. as a residential sales associate. He was previously with Coldwell Banker Sea Island Realty on Edisto Island.

Previously, Williams worked as the manager of T-Bonz Restaurant on the Market. Martha Anderson Priester also joined the staff as a producer. Previously, Priester was the vice president of First Virginia Bank. Scott Hairfield joined MassMutual as a financial services professional. He is a recent graduate of The Citadel with a degree in business administration. Susan E. Ballard is a new agent with MassMutual. Most recently, she was a retail manager at Kay Jewelers. Ryan F.
