Joseph R. Wren Jr. joined Charleston Southern University’s board of visitors. Wren, an attorney with Legal Professionals in Mount Pleasant, will serve on the board until Dec. 31, 2008.

Trident United Way elected its executive committee: Jesse C. Dove, president of Investment Advisory Center Inc., as chairman; Larry Tarleton, publisher of The Post and Courier, as chairman-elect; William Finn, chairman and chief executive officer of AstenJohnson, as campaign chairman; Anita Zucker, director of public relations for The InterTech Group, as community investment chairwoman; and Kenneth Smith, attorney with Buist Moore Smythe McGee PA, as treasurer. Other new board members are Molly F. Greene, president of Water Missions International; Don Kassing, president of JW Aluminum; Robert Keener, president of Carolina Council, Boy Scouts of America; Julie Medich, attorney with Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd PA; Michael Olbrich, plant manager of BP; Rita O’Neil, general manager of WCSC-TV; and Caldwell Pinckney, Berkeley County Council member. New board members will serve three-year terms.

The South Carolina World Trade Center named Kent Bosworth to its board of directors for a three-year term. Bosworth, the president and chief executive officer of The Bosworth Group, will serve on the center’s marketing committee.

Ron Silverman of Mount Pleasant was named volunteer leadership chairman for the South Carolina Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Silverman is a retired corporate executive and former entrepreneurial owner of a national sales consulting firm that assisted retailers. He helped bring the first Lowcountry Red-Trout Celebrity Classic Fishing Tournament to Charleston, part of a series of tournaments in several states that raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
