ADVERTISING AND MEDIA

 

Amy T. Solomon has joined WCBD-TV News 2 as interactive media account executive. Solomon comes to News 2 from The Post and Courier where she spent the last three years as a medical recruitment advertising ­specialist.

 

Bob Moquin fills a newly created position at Rawle Murdy Associates Inc. as director of client services. Moquin is responsible for all client services and account service department training and management. Prior to joining Rawle Murdy, Moquin was account director of FKQ Advertising in Clearwater, Fla., and was the director of partnership marketing for Leslie Advertising in Greenville, S.C.

 

HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM

 

Jim Davis has joined Patrick Properties as manager of catering sales. Davis comes to Charleston from Utah’s Food Service in Salt Lake City, where he had served as catering sales director since 1988.

 

Jenny Grier and Lauren Harvey are new spring naturalists at the Audubon Center and Sanctuary at the Francis Beidler Forest in Harleyville. Grier previously worked at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Kiawah Island’s Nature Program. Harvey, who returns to Francis Beidler for a second season, worked at the Aquatic Ecology Lab at Oklahoma University and spent a summer doing research on invasive snails in Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks.

 

FINANCE

 

David Harrelson has joined CNI National Mortgage Co. as a loan officer for the company’s Mount Pleasant branch. Prior to joining CNI, he was employed by Carolina First Bank. Harrelson specializes in working with first-time homebuyers, second resort homes and construction.

 

ARCHITECTURE

 

Chris Humphries is an intern with the architectural firm of Tynes Associates Inc. He previously gained experience in diagnostic imaging at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham and with high-end custom residential homebuilders in the Charleston area. He recently received an architecture degree from Auburn University.

 

TECHNOLOGY

 

Deanna Blair has been named technology consultant in the residential smart home wiring division of C3 Technology IncJulie Palmer has been named sales manager of business technology sales.

 

NEW BUSINESS

 

Jim Davis is the director of the new Southeast regional office of Foresight Science & Technology Inc., which provides outsourced services supporting the movement of technology from ideas into practical applications. The new office is located in Mount Pleasant.

 

Merle Singletary and Dave Evans have founded Lowcountry Golf Promotions in North Charleston, a service for golf tournaments and gifts.

 

Vories Medical Group has relocated its headquarters to Mount Pleasant. The practice, founded by Dr. Michael Vories, also will maintain offices in London and Hazard, Ky. Vories is the only South Carolina member of the International Hair Restoration Institute. The practice, located at 498 Wando Park Blvd., will begin accepting patients this month.

 

Top Cat Marine Security Inc. is relocating its manufacturing operation to Berkeley County. The company, headquartered in New York City, manufacturers high-performance boats intended for use by defense, homeland security, port security and law enforcement officials. Moving into an existing facility in Saint Stephen, Top Cat expects to create up to 75 jobs.

 

EDUCATION

 

Gary Campbell and Lisa Marie Johnson have joined Limestone College’s Block Program. Campbell will serve as new area coordinator, marketing Limestone College’s non-traditional program, recruit new students and manage the Charleston site. Johnson joins as student services coordinator/officer manager.

 

Dr. Robert Pitts has joined College of Charleston as dean of the School of Business and Economics. Pitts comes to the college from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., where he has been dean and professor of marketing in the college of business administration since 1997. 

 

MANUFACTURING

 

MBT International has announced the appointment of Skip Wendel as the new senior operations manager. Steve Gordon has been named distribution center manager.
