West Ashley landmark gets new look

Built in the early 1980s, Harrell Square’s nearly 30,000 square feet consisted of retail space on the first floor and office space on the second. Today, the familiar landmark at the corner of Orleans Road and Sam Rittenberg Blvd. is being updated into a mixed-use neighborhood center. Still anchored by State Farm Insurance Co., Harrell Square now boasts a nearly 27,000-square-foot addition, a relocated access with additional parking and an entirely new façade.

“With its high traffic count and location directly in front of Citadel Mall, Harrell Square is a prime location for office and retail users alike,” says Bob Caldwell of Caldwell Commercial, which handles all property management as well as the brokerage on the development’s office portion. “The renovation revives the entire intersection, and this type of project is catching on in the West Ashley market.”
