South Atlantic Bank is planning to open its first full-service branch office in the Lowcountry in early fall.

The Myrtle Beach-based bank filed applications with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and the S.C. State Board of Financial Institutions earlier this month to open its fifth office at 1127 Queensborough Blvd. in Mount Pleasant. South Atlantic opened a loan production office at that address in October.

K. Wayne Wicker, the bank’s chairman and CEO, said the loan production office has been “very well-received in the market.”

“We are looking forward to becoming full-service and anticipate operations to begin within 90 days, pending the approval process,” Wicker said in a statement. “Customers in the market will find the high-tech products usually offered only by much larger banks, along with the community bank service South Atlantic Bank is known for, at our Mount Pleasant office.”

Ken Pickens will be based at the new office as senior vice president and regional executive, along with Brian Michel and Kurt Seguer, who will both work as vice presidents and commercial loan officers.

The bank has additional full-service branches in Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island and Georgetown.
