The Coastal Cupboard in Mount Pleasant has hired Bryan Breland as in-house chef. Breland will host a variety of cooking classes every week in the store’s kitchen.
Breland moved to Hilton Head in 2007 and worked in the kitchen at The Sage Room, a fine dining restaurant, for three years. He then moved to Charleston, working at Caviar and Bananas for nearly three years. He also worked at Huck’s Lowcountry Table on Isle of Palms and then managed a Piggly Wiggly store in Mount Pleasant before the franchise was sold.
Cupcake DownSouth has announced new flavors for spring: banana pudding, key lime, creamsicle, lemon blueberry, peaches and cream, strawberries and cream, strawberry waffles, and honey roasted peanut. The company will debut its 2014 summer flavors in June.
All three Cupcake locations — Charleston, Mount Pleasant and Columbia — feature nine different flavors each day that rotate throughout the week, including staples and seasonal flavors. Each store will also create additional specialty treats for holidays.
