Legare Farms on Johns Island is starting up vegetable deliveries as part of its Community Supported Agriculture program. Members help pay for seeds, fertilizer, water, equipment maintenance and labor. In return, the farm provides a healthy supply of seasonal fresh produce throughout the growing season. Shareholders take a risk along with the farmer on the crop. This is the seventh year Legare Farms has offered the program.

Legare Farms staff will share tips for preparing vegetables, and members are encouraged to share tips and recipes. Pickup locations are at Trident Technical College on Rivers Avenue, West Ashley, James Island, Mount Pleasant and at the farm.

Members receive a half-bushel of produce for 15 weeks (nine weeks in spring-summer and six weeks in fall). A half-share is also available. Cost for the season is $355 for a full share and $245 for a half-share. To sign up, call 843-559-0788 or email legarefarms@bellsouth.net.
