Months before the company plans to open another store location, Southern Season is adding a new president.
Dave Herman will join the culinary store, restaurant and cooking school, which has a location in Mount Pleasant, as president and COO this month, according to CEO W. Clay Hamner.

“Southern Season is truly a retail experience unlike anywhere else,” Herman said in a statement. “Built on a foundation of passionate and knowledgeable service, great staff and unparalleled products and offerings, we also know our customers are one of the most essential parts of who we are. I am excited to help Southern Season grow while maintaining the culture that makes these stores stand out.”
Southern Season’s original location in Chapel Hill, N.C., opened nearly 40 years ago, and its Mount Pleasant spot at 730 Coleman Blvd. is just over six months old. The company is expanding to Richmond, Va., this summer and is planning locations in Charlotte; Atlanta; Birmingham, Ala.; Nashville, Tenn.; and Washington, D.C., according to a news release.
Hamner said adding leadership to the senior management team is an important step before more expansion occurs.
“After an extensive nationwide search, we are very fortunate to have recruited Dave to join us,” Hamner said in a statement. “He embraces the Southern Season culture and has led the expansion of a number of well-known national brands.”
