North Charleston-based Shore Development and Construction LLC will build one of the biggest movie studios in the country in Effingham County, Ga.

The Medient Studioplex will include 2 million square feet of sound studio, offices, outdoor entertainment venues and on-site lodging and housing. It will include the world’s largest soundstage, according to a news release.

The $90 million Studioplex is expected to create 1,200 jobs over the next five years, according to the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority.

Medient Studios contracted Shore Development as the construction manager for the project. The project will be composed in four phases.

Medient has a 20-year lease on the 1,560-acre property, with an option to purchase for $100 at the end of the term.

Jeremy Blackburn, president of Shore Development and CEO of Titan Atlas Global, said the studio will be technologically advanced.

“Medient has significant commitments from production and film companies from around the world who are anxious to take advantage of not only the attractive film and entertainment business climate in Georgia, but in particular the Medient Studioplex ... ” Blackburn said in a statement.

Shore is looking to hire Georgia contractors to supplement its own local employees.

Titan Atlas Global and Shore Development and Construction are privately held corporations, both located at 4280 Pace St. in North Charleston.

Medient Studios Inc. is an entertainment content creation company in North America, Europe and India. Its stock is traded on the OTC Markets Group under symbol MDNT.
