Greenville-based CertusBank opened its first Lowcountry branch earlier this week, according to Assistant Vice President Emily Ledbetter.

The 3,756-square-foot branch is located at 174 Meeting St. in downtown Charleston and includes more than 14,000 square feet of additional office space. The company plans to open a new branch in downtown Columbia at the corner of Lady and Main streets within the next month.

CertusBank’s regional executive for the Lowcountry, Linda Woodside, has more than two decades of commercial real estate banking experience, Ledbetter said. Woodside will be responsible for driving business and overseeing operational performance for the region.

Ryan Funke, a graduate of The Citadel, will be the Meeting Street branch’s manager, and five additional employees have been hired, according to Ledbetter.

“We’ve assembled a great team and are looking forward to sharing our unique approach to banking with the people and businesses of Charleston,” Ledbetter said in a statement.

The Charleston branch features an interactive, multitouch media wall that customers can use to explore community events, local trivia and financial offerings, Ledbetter said.

CertusBank, the largest Small Business Administration lender by volume in the state, has a lending presence in 12 states and has more than 30 branches across North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
