Last year, Ted's Butcherblock raised more than $2,000 for four local charities at its Friday Wine Tastings. Charity partners Star Gospel Mission, Lowcountry Food Bank, Charleston Animal Society and Charleston Waterkeeper each received donations for one quarter out of the year.

This year, Ted's Butcherblock is working with local charities that provide services related to local food production, the arts, child wellness and the environment. This quarter, Ted’s is supporting GrowFood Carolina, an organization that helps local farmers get their products to local markets, restaurants and consumers in and around Charleston. The Friday Wine Tastings are 6-8 p.m. each week. The tasting donation is $5.

The Souper Bowl of Caring is a national effort to encourage communities to support local charities that feed the hungry. In January, S.C. Bank and Trust’s Mount Pleasant branch, located at 1032 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., promoted the Souper Bowl of Caring, collecting 106 pounds of nonperishable food and raising more than $300 in cash, which translates into 216 meals for recipients of East Cooper Meals on Wheels.
