Construction has begun on a new 50,000-square-foot facility in North Charleston that will be leased for educational purposes, according to a news release from Holder Properties.
The real estate development company is building a two-story facility that will offer lobby space, administrative offices and classroom areas for the College of Charleston North Campus and Lowcountry Graduate Center. It will be located on 5.3 acres of property on the corner of Paramount Drive and the Interstate-526 access road, Holder Properties said.

Godfrey Gibbison, dean of the North Campus, said the college is committed to increasing access to quality education in the North Charleston area.
“The new North Campus will empower residents in North Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley to complete their bachelor’s degree through our new bachelor of professional studies program, as well as provide opportunities for personal, professional and executive development through the College of Charleston’s Center for Continuing and Professional Education,” Gibbison said in a statement.
Once this facility is open, the company’s Charleston developments will total more than 450,000 square feet, Holder Properties said.
“Holder Properties is proud to be associated with the College of Charleston in the development of the new campus in North Charleston,” John Holder, CEO of the company, said in a statement.
