An upscale fashion retailer is planning to open a store on King Street.

Michael Kors, which sells men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, has submitted plans to the city of Charleston for a store at 263 King St. The Board of Architectural Review (.pdf) will meet on Wednesday to discuss a request made by Michael Kors for five new signs.

Two of the signs would be mounted to the store’s glass and be made of fabricated stainless steel with polished letters. The largest sign would be above the store’s entrance and be illuminated from within with white LED bulbs, according to the board. Michael Kors is also proposing a stainless steel floor logo at its entrance to be nested into the stone slab and an illuminated blade sign.

The new store would replace BCBG Max Azria and be the second Michael Kors in the state. The only other location currently is in North Charleston’s Tanger Outlets.

Michael Kors Holdings had more than 4,000 employees and nearly $2 billion in sales as of last year, according to Forbes.
