A health services provider for low-income individuals opened a North Charleston facility on Tuesday, the S.C. Commerce Department announced.
Molina Healthcare plans to employ 150 people at the office at 4105 Faber Place Drive. The company has hired 125 personnel in the past year for the North Charleston office, with plans to add another 25 positions in the near future.
“One of the key concerns in any community is its quality of life, and nothing is more fundamental to that quality of life than good health care for its citizens,” Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor said in a statement. “The presence of Molina Healthcare will multiply the number of health care insurance options for the citizens ...”
Long Beach, Calif.-based Molina Healthcare provides health services to individuals covered by government programs, such as Medicaid and Medicare. Molina Healthcare will begin offering health coverage in South Carolina on Jan. 1.
”We are excited to open our newest health plan in the great state of South Carolina,” Molina President Tom Lindquist said in a statement. “We are looking forward to working closely with the state’s Health and Human Services, local providers and community organizations to provide high-quality care to our members here.”
Molina operates in California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. Molina serves approximately 1.9 million members.
Its subsidiary, Molina Medicaid Solutions, provides business processing and information technology administrative services to Medicaid agencies in Idaho, Louisiana, Maine, New Jersey and West Virginia, and drug rebate administration services in Florida.
