Employers: R3 Inc. and Roper St. Francis Healthcare

Eric Jackson is an equipment technician at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital, a U.S. Navy veteran and the founder of a nonprofit to help teenagers build self-esteem and be successful in school.

Jackson works five days a week as an equipment tech manager in the operating room, and then spends his evenings at his organization, R3 Inc., where he preaches “Real Talk, Real Action, Real Results.”

The nonprofit’s mission is to help students understand the importance of education. R3 provides them tutoring, mentoring and a safe place to do homework. Its facility on Mary and America streets has also become a place for adults to study for the GED.

Jackson’s work doesn’t end there: He’s taking online classes for a bachelor’s degree in human services to help him get into nursing school.
