Total Beverage Solution, a Mount Pleasant-based alcoholic beverage importer and supplier, has added the Celis beer brand to its portfolio, with plans to restart brewing of the Belgian craft beer brand next year.
Total Beverage Solution acquired the Celis trademark and product recipes from CraftBev International Inc. on Nov. 25.
Total Beverage Solution CEO Dave Pardus said, “We are currently considering a number of options for brewing, and we plan to reintroduce the brand to market by mid-2014.”
The Celis acquisition represents the second craft beer brand purchase for Total Beverage Solution. Earlier this year, the company relaunched California-based Humboldt Brewing Co., which had been previously purchased in 2005 and renamed Nectar Ales.
Celis beer brand began in 1992 when Pierre Celis, a Belgian brewer known for reviving the 400-year-old Belgian white style of beer in the Hoegaarden brand, moved to Austin, Texas, and began Celis Brewery using original Belgian beer recipes. Celis reached widespread distribution and won several awards before leaving the market in 2012.
