The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce is holding a luncheon on Thursday to honor small businesses in the Charleston area.
The Small Business Awards 2013 will recognize businesses in two categories: companies with one to 25 employees and companies with 26 to 100 employees. The awards are designed to recognize small companies for success and contributions to the community, the chamber said in a news release.
The awards also are meant to provide a forum for companies to talk about their successes and raise awareness of small business in the Charleston region.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Thursday at the Francis Marion Hotel on King Street downtown. The host for the awards is Bruce D. Johnson, author of the business book Breaking through Plateaus.
Guest speakers include Karen Elsey, co-owner of Laura Alberts Tasteful Options; Kenneth Canty, president and CEO of Freeland Construction Co.; and Mason Holland, executive chairman of Benefitfocus Inc.
