Newk’s Eatery, a fast-casual restaurant, opened Aug. 26 at 210-D Azalea Square Blvd. in Summerville. It’s the franchise’s first Charleston-area location.
Menu items include fresh tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, homemade soups and homemade cakes. Newk’s also offers a catering menu. The restaurant has a Roundtable Club for repeat guests, named for the table in the center of every franchise location that includes spices and toppings customers can use. Newk’s also offers Grab-n-Go, a selection of premade menu items in an open, stand-up refrigerator case at the front of the restaurant from which customers can select a meal.
Franchise company NPR Food Services Inc., which consists of restaurateurs Brack Rowe, Todd Pennington and Jim Newton, opened the Summerville franchise. Rowe has relocated to Summerville. The three have signed on to open four more Newk’s locations over the next five years, including restaurants in Charleston, Columbia and Savannah.
Prior to the official opening, Newk’s hosted a VIP fundraiser to benefit Children in Crisis in Dorchester County.
