Five entrepreneurs will get a chance to make a case for their business ideas in front of a panel of judges in a few months.
“The competition is Charleston’s version of the popular TV show Shark Tank, where finalists pitch their business ventures to a panel of judges for a chance to win seed money and visibility,” the chamber said in a news release.
The Perfect Pitch final event will take place Nov. 19. Anyone with an original business idea can enter in one of the following categories or under a miscellaneous “other” category:
- Advanced Security/Information Technology
- Wind Energy
- International Trade
Ten finalists will work with mentoring teams for guidance on articulating ideas, determining proof-of-concept, differentiating their product, creating strategies for commercialization, explaining funding strategy and value proposition, and sharpening presentation skills.
Each finalist will make a five-minute pitch Nov. 19 at the American Theater in downtown Charleston in front of a panel of judges, who will choose five to advance to a final round of presentations and a question-and-answer session.
The two “Perfect Pitch” winners — one for business idea and one for product or service —will each be awarded $2,500.
