Haynsworth Sinkler Boyd P.A. has elected Boyd B. (Nick) Nicholson Jr. as the Columbia-based firm’s managing director.
Nicholson will combine his new responsibilities as managing director with his work in public procurement, local government law and construction law.
He previously led the firm’s governmental, utilities and nonprofits group working with government and nonprofit agencies with respect to contract and procurement issues, Freedom of Information Act requests, constitutional and general law challenges, governance issues and general liability matters. Nicholson practices in the firm’s Greenville office.
Nicholson is a graduate of Leadership Greenville and a board member for the South Carolina Association of Public Charter Schools. He is also a frequent speaker on procurement law matters.
Joining Nicholson on the firm’s three-member management committee are Joseph D. Clark of the firm’s Columbia office and James H. (Jeddie) Suddeth III of the firm’s Charleston office.
An adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, Clark previously led the firm’s corporate finance and commercial transactions group. His practice focuses on assisting corporations and businesses raise equity capital, drafting and reviewing commercial contracts, advice on corporate governance and assistance with the purchase and sale of business assets.
Suddeth represents property owners, tenants and their lenders in various types of commercial real estate transactions. Suddeth advises a number of clients on business formation, ongoing corporate legal matters and captive insurance needs.
