The Nexton development in Summerville nabbed its first restaurant.

Raleigh-based Carolina Ale House has signed a purchase agreement to acquire a site in the first phase of Nexton along Highway 17A, MeadWestvaco Corp. announced Monday.

The restaurant is expected to break ground in October and open in spring 2014. The restaurant’s square footage and exact address were not disclosed.

“With a 100,000-square-foot Class ‘A’ office building under construction and the new SCRA facility set to break ground later this year, we are pleased to secure a fun restaurant ideal for informal business lunches, gathering with friends after work, or enjoying an evening out with family,” said Kenneth T. Seeger, president of MWV Community Development and Land Management, in a news release.

Nexton is actively recruiting retailers and restaurateurs. NAI Avant is the broker for Nexton’s retail district.

Carolina Ale House currently operates 21 locations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. The restaurant expects to open six locations throughout the Southeast in the next 18 months.

MeadWestvaco Corp. provides packaging solutions for the health care, personal care, food, beverage, home and garden, and tobacco industries. It employs more than 15,000 employees in 30 countries. It is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under “MWV.”
