The Medical University of South Carolina is the top hospital in South Carolina, according to U.S. News & World Report.

MUSC announced its top ranking today, citing U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals 2013-14
,” which surveys nearly 10,000 specialists and analyzed data from 5,000 hospitals to rank the best facilities across the country in 16 adult specialties. Only 147 hospitals were nationally ranked in one or more specialties.
MUSC took the top ranking overall in South Carolina and is nationally ranked in three specialties: 27th in ear, nose and throat; 40th in nephrology; and 17th in rheumatology. The hospital is the only one in South Carolina to have nationally ranked specialties, according to U.S. News.
The publication also recognized MUSC as a high-performing hospital in 10 more specialties, including cancer; cardiology and heart surgery; diabetes and endocrinology; and geriatrics, among others.
U.S. News ranked eight hospitals in South Carolina, and other Lowcountry facilities to be ranked were Roper St. Francis’ Roper Hospital at No. 4, and its Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital at No. 6.
