The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic chose a North Charleston company and several others for a contract worth $49.9 million during its base year, the Department of Defense announced.
Atlas Technologies will compete with nine other companies for task orders associated with the contract, which calls for computer equipment and services associated with command, control, communication, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, among others.
The contract includes options that could increase its value to $249.6 million. Businesses will perform the work worldwide, and SPAWAR expects work to finish by April 2014, though it could continue until April 2018 if all options are exercised.
SPAWAR chose the 10 companies after receiving 21 bids.
