Two Charleston business leaders are among the finalists for the S.C. Small Business Person of the Year award, according to a news release from the U.S. Small Business Administration in Columbia.
Murray Compton, president of Appalachian Springs LLC in North Charleston, and Noah Leask, president and CEO of Ishpi Information Technologies Inc. in Mount Pleasant, along with three other South Carolinians are finalists for the award, including:
- Shannon Ellis, owner of Ellis Management (doing business as The Willcox) in Aiken.
- Jerry Ellison, president and CEO of JBE Inc. in Hartsville.
- Louis Lynn, president and CEO of Enviro AgScience in Columbia.
The state winner will be announced later this month along with the winners of the SBA’s new S.C. Small Business & Advocacy Awards competition. All South Carolina honorees will be recognized at the 2013 Salute to Small Business on May 23 in Columbia presented by the SBA, the S.C. Chamber of Commerce and the S.C. Coalition for Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
The S.C. Small Business Person of the Year will compete for the national title during National Small Business Week, June 17-21.
