SC Biz News publications win top honors from S.C. Press Association

The SC Biz News group of publications won five first-place awards and 11 total from the S.C. Press Association during an awards ceremony Saturday in Greenville.

SCBIZ magazine was named the best magazine in the state by the S.C. Press Association.
SCBIZ magazine was named the best magazine in the state.

Among the awards:
SCBIZ magazine, which focuses on economic development issues and news across the state, was named the best magazine in South Carolina.

In the Upstate, GSA Business was named the second best newspaper in the state.

GSA Business won three journalism awards in the associate division, including honors for writing, graphic design and general excellence.

In the Midlands, the Columbia Regional Business Report Editor James T. Hammond won first place for best opinion column.

In the Lowcountry, the Charleston Regional Business Journal won four awards, including two first-place awards for graphic design and photography.

  • Charleston Regional Business Journal, second place, Matt Tomsic, best news story.
  • Charleston Regional Business Journal, second place, Ryan Wilcox, best graphic design.
  • GSA Business, second place, best newspaper.
  • GSA Business, third place, Scott Miller, best opinion column.
  • GSA Business, third place, S. Kevin Greene, best graphic design.
  • Lake Wylie Today, third place, best magazine.
