The 13th annual Kiawah Island Art & Home Tour, which features five properties filled with contemporary art, is set for 1-5 p.m. April 5. Tour tickets are $55 per person and include access to all participating homes, light refreshments at one stop and a special pass to the Gibbes Museum of Art valid through Dec. 30, 2013.
Tickets may be purchased at the Gibbes Museum Store, 135 Meeting St., or online; the Kiawah Island Real Estate Offices; The Sanctuary; Freshfields Village; or by calling 843-722-2706, ext. 21. Proceeds benefit education, exhibition and outreach programs at the Gibbes Museum of Art. Freshfields Village stores and restaurants will offer special promotions and discounts to guests before and after the event. The event is organized by Gibbes, etc., an auxiliary group of the Gibbes Museum of Art comprised of Kiawah Island women dedicated to supporting the museum.
Sticky Fingers Smokehouse in downtown Charleston will host a fundraiser night for Meals on Wheels of Charleston from 6-8 p.m. March 28 with band Rawberry Jam.
In honor of its 20th anniversary, each Sticky Fingers restaurant location adopted a local charity and launched a fundraising campaign in January. So far, Sticky Fingers in downtown Charleston has raised more than $3,000 for Meals on Wheels with a goal of $5,000 before the end of March.
The American Cancer Society has launched a recruitment campaign for its Road to Recovery program in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Through this program, volunteers provide free transportation for local cancer patients in need of a ride to and from cancer treatment.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a driver must have a good driving record, valid driver's license, automobile insurance and a vehicle in working condition. The American Cancer Society provides free training for this program.
