Carbures to expand in Greenville County

Carbures LLC plans to expand current operations in Greenville and hire 20 more employees this year, CEO Ivan Contreras said.

The Cadiz, Spain-based high-tech firm makes carbon structures for the aerospace industry. The company plans to expand its operations by 40,000 square feet in a facility located in the Beechtree Business Park, at 202 Beechtree Blvd. in Greenville.

The new facility will have CNC capabilities and room to manufacture tools and composite parts for the aerospace, automotive and infrastructure sectors.

Carbures’ U.S. headquarters is in Greenville, including its engineering, manufacturing and office space. It currently has 15 local employees.

In September 2011, the company announced plans to invest $6.5 million and generate at least 50 jobs over the next five years at its facility at the S.C. Technology and Aviation Center in Greenville County. Carbures will maintain its operations at SCTAC as well.
