The U.S. Defense Department has awarded a $162.1 million contract to the S.C. Commission for the Blind to provide food services at Fort Jackson.
The contract, which expires Jan. 31, 2018, calls for the commission to serve troops at 11 dining facilities on the Columbia post.
Fort Jackson, the Army’s largest training center, trains more than 50,000 soldiers a year. An average of 35,931 meals is served daily at the post’s dining halls, according to Army documents.
