The Cocktail Club will hold the Jilted Lover's Party at 9 p.m. Feb. 14 with music by the David Higgins Band and specialty Valentine's cocktails. Attendees who share their best jilted lover's story have a chance to win a complimentary cocktail class for two. No admission is charged. The Cocktail Club is located at 479 King St. in Charleston.

Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina’s newest restaurant, Blue Marlin Fish House, has announced Charles Arena will be taking the lead as executive chef.

Arena studied under Jean Jacques Rachou at La Cote Basque in New York before coming to Charleston to work at the Tides at the Beach Club. For the last seven years, Arena has worked at The Boathouse on Breach’s Inlet.

Since 2007, he has been an adjunct professor at The Culinary Institute of Charleston at Trident Technical College while also developing relationships with farmers and local fisherman.

Blue Marlin, scheduled to open in the spring, will feature a rooftop bar, open-air dining, 350 seats and 1,000 square feet of private dining space for special events.

The Gusto Group has announced plans for the second annual Charleston Beer Garden at Brittlebank Park May 18. The festival features craft brews, music, free beer classes, games and the Homebrewers Village. Tickets go on sale Feb. 18 at www.charlestonbeergarden.com.
