The number of advertised jobs posted online in South Carolina climbed by 3,100, or 5.3%, in January, according to the Conference Board Help Wanted Online.
Advertised openings totaled 61,300 in January compared with 58,200 in December and 50,000 in January 2012, according to the New York-based organization, which tracks online listings.
Among South Carolina’s neighbors, Georgia recorded a January gain of 4,300 openings while North Carolina rose by 3,600.
Jobs in food preparation and serving, along with transportation and material moving, offered the most openings, while traditional office occupations — business and finance, computer and math, and office and administrative support — declined.
