The S.C. Small Business Development Center is holding tax workshops for small business owners in the Charleston area beginning next month.

The tax workshop will offer information and instruction about handling business taxes, tax benefits and obligations for starting a business and for new employers, the center said in a news release.

The morning part of the workshop will cover federal taxes and the afternoon session will cover state taxes and employment issues. Other topics will include record keeping and tax filing deadlines.

Workshop schedule

The workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following dates at the Small Business Development Center, 2430 Mall Drive, Suite 155, in North Charleston:

• Feb. 22
• May 17
• July 26
• Oct. 18
