SCANA Corp. and its subsidiaries, including South Carolina Electric & Gas, paid about $157 million in property taxes in South Carolina in 2012, the Cayce-based company said.
“These dollars have an important impact in the communities we serve, helping to support schools, police, fire and other critical public services,” said SCE&G spokesperson Stephanie Jones.
The largest single tax payment was made to Richland County, approximately $27.5 million.

SCE&G provides electricity to about 669,000 customers in South Carolina. The company also provides natural gas service to approximately 317,000 customers throughout the state.
