Baker Motor Co. Charleston Fashion Week 2013 has announced its first Fashion and Film Contest. Held in conjunction with Tout Pictures and Production Design Associates, the competition is for short films up to two minutes in length that tie in with fashion. Submissions will be accepted at charlestonfashionweek.com/filmcontest. Entries will be judged and selected by a panel of editors. Up to five prizes of $200 each will be awarded, and winning films may be screened at the 2013 event. Charleston Fashion Week is March 19-23.

Mary Norton

Mary Norton will speak at the Small Business Lunch at Halls Jan. 10. Beginning in 1998, Norton grew her handbag company, Moo Roo, from her kitchen table into an international brand with a celebrity following including  Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz and Oprah Winfrey, among others. She designed an entire collection of Mary Norton Shoes and opened a boutique on King Street. Despite corporate bankruptcy in 2009, she has rebounded and now is featured on the Home Shopping Network.
