SpeedNews will host its inaugural Aerospace Manufacturing Conference in Charleston next year, economic development officials announced Monday.

The conference will be held in April at the Charleston Place Hotel, and the Charleston Regional Development Alliance will help produce the event.

“When we launched our Aerospace Raw Materials & Manufacturing Conference in 2011, we also uncovered demand for deeper knowledge of how to better align manufacturing and the supply chain,” said Joanna Speed, managing director of conferences for SpeedNews. “Our new Aerospace Manufacturing Conference responds with a dynamic, face-to-face forum focused on helping industry professionals gain critical insights that can improve their operations.”

Conference attendees will learn about manufacturing products and software technologies to improve productivity and profitability. The conference will also cover design, advanced materials, engineering, tooling and other topics.

“The Charleston metropolitan area is quickly establishing itself as a top global location for aerospace manufacturing,” said David Ginn, president and CEO for the Charleston Regional Development Alliance. “Partnering with SpeedNews to help launch the Aerospace Manufacturing Conference is a fantastic way to showcase the Charleston region and our growing aerospace cluster and assets.”
