Online advertised vacancies in South Carolina rose by 2,900 jobs to 58,000 in September compared with August’s totals, according to data released Wednesday by The Conference Board Help Wanted Online.

September’s job vacancies also rose 18% compared to 49,200 jobs advertised online in South Carolina for the same month in 2011, the report said.

In the South, online labor demand gained 33,500 vacancies in September with North Carolina posting the largest increase, 5,500, for a cumulative 2012 increase of 19,600, or 16.8%. Next was Florida with a September increase of 4,300; Georgia, 2,900; Virginia, 2,400; Tennessee, 2,900; and Arkansas, 1,000. Louisiana posted a decline in online job vacancies, down 1,200.
