Designer Shawn Rohde has opened her first retail boutique, KikiSol Resort, on Theatre Drive in Mount Pleasant Towne Centre.
KikiSol Resort has a selection of KikiSol brand tunics, coastal pillows, scarves, jewelry, hats and bags. The KikiSol Resort women’s clothing line is launching this fall and will include oversized hoodies, leggings, tanks, dresses and tops. New tunic prints will arrive mid-September.
KikiSol Resort is partnering with neighboring store, Chucktown Chicks, for an official grand opening and preview of the new collection Oct. 1.

Local fashion retailer Affordables partnered with students from the Art Institute of Charleston to create a live window display at the King Street store during the Sept. 2 Sunday on King.
Students from the visual merchandising and display class taught by Professor Kimberley McHenry-Williams created a spring into fall-themed window where live models displayed how to transition spring fashion into fall fashion.

Cavortress is a Charleston-based vintage clothing brand that has been featured at Charleston Fashion Week, SXSW, the Grammys, on NBC, in Women’s Wear Daily and the Oxford American. Clothing pieces are available locally at House of Sage, Rogue Wave Surf Shop and Serendipity Salon. Cavortress has curated a vintage collection that now includes menswear and sterling jewelry.
The collection will be available to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Kudu Coffee Courtyard. Items are priced between $10 and $75. Kudu is offering $2.50 cappuccinos all day. Cash and major credit cards accepted.
Charleston Fashion Week will hold open model castings for the 2013 event at 2 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina, 20 Patriots Point Road in Mount Pleasant.
Applicants must meet the height requirements of 5 feet 7 inches without heels (women) and 5 feet 10 inches (men). Height will be checked prior to each casting call. Models under the required height will not be permitted to audition. Get rules, regulations and details online.
All models cast for Charleston Fashion Week 2013 will train with model coach Michelle Wood and will receive payment, a profile on the fashion week website, and a gift bag valued at $500. In addition, each participating model selected to walk in a runway show will be eligible for the Rock the Runway Model Competition.
