A Charleston software company is holding a mobile application expo this weekend for developers and engineers to show their app-making muscle for cash, gadgets and bragging rights.
The second Hackathon, hosted by Sparc on Saturday, includes Google as a partner and will showcase tech and mobile application companies specializing in different platforms, the company said in a news release.
“We have a mix of local and national companies this year who all believe in what we’re doing here — and we are so appreciative of their support,” said Amanda Hodges, Sparc software engineer and event organizer.
Attendees will get a glimpse at new apps under development for the mobile market. The Hackathon also includes teams competing to develop the best app for Android, iOS, Blackberry or Windows Phone 7 operating systems based on a single selected category or concept.
At the end of the 16-hour Hackathon, $10,000 worth of prizes will be awarded, including $3,000 in cash and two iPads for the “Best of Show” winner.
