‘Cesca, a new Southern regional Italian restaurant, is expanding its hours with lunch and brunch service. Lunch is available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Brunch will be served from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Sunday. Lunch items include a 6-ounce LaFrieda burger on a brioche bun, prawns and polenta, and pizzettes. ‘Cesca is also offering an express lunch, which includes a choice of soup or salad, tagliatelle Bolognese or whole wheat penne pomodoro and a drink for $11.50.

Brunch includes a buffet offering, as well as the option to order a la carte. Brunch specialties include a frittata and waffle station with made-to-order omelets and waffles, and a carving station featuring Italian porketta. Beginning Wednesday, Cypress is participating in the 2012 Tree-To-Table project with Rainier cherries. The organization partners with one restaurant in each state to create a menu item featuring Rainier cherries, which are known for their crisp bite and sweet taste. Executive Chef Craig Deihl showcases the cherries with his house-made coppa along with herb ricotta, arugula and Saba. This is the second year that Cypress has been chosen to be a part of this program developed by Northwest Cherries, a part of the Washington State Fruit Commission. The Old Village Post House is hosting a special peach dinner at 6:30 p.m. July 25 with special guest chef Jimihatt from Guerilla Cuisine. Chef de Cuisine Forrest Parker and Executive Chef Frank Lee have worked with Jimihatt to create a culinary tribute to South Carolina peaches. The menu includes four courses paired with wines. Pilot’s Lounge and Steakhouse, 950 Bacons Bridge Road in Summerville, is now serving lunch and a light menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Menu items include a daily lunch special for $6.50. For more information, call 843-851-1315.


Izakaya Hiro, 298 King St. in Charleston, is now open from 5 to 11 p.m. daily. The full menu will be available starting Friday. Hideya Ishibashi is head sushi chef. The menu additions include Ramen dishes and Yakitori options as well as local fish. Izakaya Hiro has an extensive sake menu and is making all-natural drinking vinegars in-house.
