A sporting goods maker and distributor is expanding in Palmetto Commerce Park, adding nearly 87,000 square feet to its facility, according to filings with the Charleston County Register of Mesne Conveyance.
Shimano American Corp. is also adding roughly 3,000 square feet of office space, and Pattillo Construction Corp. is building the expansion to its distribution facility in Ladson.
The expansion will be finished before the end of the year, said Larry Callahan, CEO for Pattillo Construction, and crews started working roughly a month ago. Callahan said the expansion will have a positive impact for the community, and Pattillo is excited to see a company with confidence in the future.
Officials from the company and Charleston County were not available to discuss the total investment or jobs created by the expansion project.
Shimano came to the Lowcountry in 2003, when it announced plans to open a distribution center here for its bicycle components and fishing tackle.
